Give Toshiba credit for innovation: its high-end U840W is the only ultrabook to sport a 21:9 cinematic display. This is meaningful for two reasons. One, there is a lot of horizontal room for a big spreadsheet, or for a spreadsheet and a Word document. Anyone who has written an analysis of financial results will appreciate that. Second, a movie will fill the screen, with no black bars at the top and bottom. With the on-board harman/kardon speakers, this is a great computer for movie buffs. In other respects, the U840W is a typical luxury ultrabook: fast processor, solid state drive for system files and excellent build quality. The U840W may be a one-trick pony but the screen is a very good trick, and one that will please some buyers. $1,099.99
