CIPS (Canadian Information Processing Society) Founded in 1958, CIPS is Canada's association of Information Technology (IT) professionals and represents the interests of IT professionals to industry and government. CIPS is involved in a number of initiatives related to public policy, setting standards within the IT profession and providing assistance to its community. Three of the main programs are the certification of individual IT professionals (Information Systems Professional - I.S.P. designation); the accreditation of computer science, software engineering, and MIS programs in Canadian colleges and universities; and the organization of a Women in IT program to educate high school girls about career opportunities in IT.
