DDB Canada hires new Account Director/Digital Strategist   |  December 16, 2009

Veteran digital marketer Eric Weaver joins award-winning Vancouver office

VANCOUVER, Dec. 16 /CNW/ - DDB Canada is pleased to announce Eric Weaver has joined the Vancouver office. As Account Director/Digital Strategist, Weaver will lead the digital and integrated planning for several DDB clients, and play a lead role in new business development. A pioneer in digital marketing, Weaver brings over 18 years of digital branding and marketing innovation to DDB Canada. He has helped organizations connect with markets, engage their audiences and effect change - using traditional brand development and nearly every type of marketing: direct, events, interactive, email and social. Weaver has worked both client- and agency-side in the United States and Germany. He joins DDB Canada from Edelman Digital, where he served as vice-president.

"Eric is well versed in crafting multi-channel customer experiences. He will be an excellent addition to our already solid digital group. Eric's deep digital marketing and social media expertise will help our clients to build and socialize their brands online," says Richard Sandor, senior vice president, managing director, DDB Canada, Vancouver.

Weaver was instrumental in the development in some of the first corporate websites, intranets, social networks, ad servers, content management systems, online points programs, and artificially intelligent websites. His role involves expanding DDB Canada's business, opening clients' eyes to the possibilities of full market engagement and social marketing efforts, and helping clients understand ongoing shifts in culture, commerce and media.

"Over the years, I've worn many hats, from brand strategist, creative director, technology pundit and new business pitchman, giving me a broad perspective on how to approach marketing challenges and solve brand communication problems," says Weaver. "I'm excited to settle down with a collaborative team of marketers who see the potential in social marketing and want to break new ground with me." As a proponent of social marketing, Weaver has provided social media counsel and strategies to UPS, Starbucks, Perry Ellis, Microsoft, Puget Sound Energy and MCI.

Weaver has received numerous awards including Webbys, New York Festivals, and Clios. In November 2009, he was presented with the Brand Leadership Award for lifetime work in the branding profession at the 2009 World Brand Congress (http://www.worldbrandcongress.com/) conference in Mumbai, India. He also provides regular thought leadership on social marketing and social good to trade press and through frequent conference presentations.

On January 6th, 2010, Eric will speak at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show's (http://www.cesweb.org/) Social Media Jungle (http://www.cesweb.org/sessions/search/results.asp?categoryID=1883) event on how businesses can build consumer trust, and grow engagement and revenue.
