Multi-Year Licensing and Manufacturing Agreement Will Create New Industry Standard for Ensuring Patient Safety and Efficacy of Medications January 30, 2007
Charlottetown, PEI, Canada Jan 30, 2007 Sensor Wireless, Inc., the world leader in Active Wireless Sensor (AWS) Technology, today announced that it has signed a $10 million, multi-year licensing and manufacturing agreement with Food Systems Group of the Americas Inc.

Under the agreement, Sensor Wireless has licensed the use of its AWS Operating System Firmware for Food Systems Group’s “RxCool” medication monitoring system to provide the Pharmaceutical Industry with safe, effective medication monitoring and compliance with Health Canada’s Guidelines for temperature and humidity mapping and monitoring.

“The RxCool application was conceived as an integrated system to monitor and document temperature, humidity and other conditions throughout the Pharmaceutical Industry as ingredients flow to drug manufacturers and medications flow to consumers.” said Frank Hennigar, President & Chief Executive Officer of Food Systems Group. “The AWS Technology provided a reliable, cost effective platform that is almost infinitely scalable and yet easily deployed. We see almost unlimited opportunities to build applications around the AWS Technology to make medications and food safer, better, and more efficacious while reducing product losses and supply chain disruptions.”

Sensor Wireless will also manufacture and supply hardware for the “RxCool” application. “We are very pleased to have completed this agreement with Food Systems Group and look forward to a continued successful working relationship as the “RxCool” system is adopted as the standard by the Pharmaceutical Industry,” said Sensor Wireless President and Chief Executive Officer, Wayd McNally. “Clearly Food Systems Group sees significant value in integrating the AWS Operating System into the “RxCool” application and we see tremendous opportunity to expand our market to pharmaceutical customers.”

The agreement has a total projected value of more than $10,000,000. The AWS Operating System allows data to be captured by remote wireless sensor units to track the condition of assets, products, and ingredients and the environment they are exposed to, including temperature, humidity, vibration, sound, motion, and other conditions that need to be monitored for safety, compliance, operating excellence, and quality control.

The data is collected by a unique Sensor Communication Interface and then transmitted using Ethernet, RF, cellular, and/or satellite, allowing real time access to the data from any high speed internet connection, anywhere in the world.

Sensor Wireless has leveraged the AWS technology platform into sensor products for Food and Beverage Manufacturing, Foodservice, Transportation, Agricultural handling systems and most recently, Very Remote Asset Monitoring (VRAM) systems, including oil and gas and water purification.

The AWS Technology has also been integrated with Sensor Wireless’ Global VU Enterprise Software to allow users to send commands that control data capture, transmission intervals, power conservation and reporting values, as well as utilize industry leading GIS mapping like Google Maps to report each Sensor Communication Interface position any where in the world.

The AWS Technology was recognized for innovation excellence by the National Research Council - Industrial Research Assistance Program when Sensor Wireless received the 2006 Regional Award for New Technology. Sensor Wireless received the Award for developing the AWS Technology into a family of wireless platforms that are helping companies achieve improved visibility, real-time reporting of the condition of remote assets, and greater brand integrity across their supply chains.
