Green Technology Grabs Provincial and Federal Support   |  January 20, 2010

Incentive Programs Add Up to Big Savings on Capacity PHETT(TM) Technology

TORONTO, Jan. 20 /CNW/ - After unveiling the Capacity Pluggable Hybrid Electrical Terminal Truck (PHETT(TM)) shunt tractor to its Canadian customers last summer, Glasvan Great Dane is pleased to announce the addition of the equipment to the Government of Ontario's Green Commercial Vehicle Program (GCVP). The federal ecoFREIGHT program has now also made the PHETT(TM) part of its roster of eligible technology. In recognition of these exciting developments, Glasvan, as an exclusive dealer of PHETT(TM) shunt tractors in Canada, is inviting interested businesses to see the PHETT(TM) in action for themselves.

Glasvan is currently showing off the ground-breaking technology across Southern Ontario. The shunt tractor is being loaned to Glasvan clients and interested buyers throughout January for trial runs - and the results have been phenomenal. Nine southern Ontario customers have taken advantage of the opportunity to test the PHETT(TM) hybrid electric shunt truck in their operation, and are reporting savings of 55 litres of diesel per day on average when compared to their traditional diesel powered units. This equates to a great reduction in carbon monoxide, hyrdrocarbon, Nox and particulate matter entering the environment.

With positive customer response and undeniable ecological impacts, Glasvan is certain that PHETT(TM) technology will be embraced and is urging potential users to investigate if PHETT(TM) is right for them.

"With the PHETT(TM) being approved under various government incentive and rebate programs focused on sustainable technology, customers can now access the real benefits of the Capacity PHETT(TM) while qualifying for a provincial rebate of up to $15,000 and possible federal funding of up to $100,000 - it's a win/win situation. We truly believe that customers will realize tangible environmental and cost-savings benefits that will impact both their bottom line and the health of our local environment," says George Cobham Jr., Vice President, Sales and Marketing at Glasvan.

Companies that take advantage of PHETT(TM) technology can expect to experience the lowest operational costs of any shunt tractor on the market, with lower fuel consumption and fewer oil changes. PHETT(TM) technology also reduces emissions and carbon footprint impact when compared to traditional diesel powered shunt tractors.
