| Cell etiquette? What the @#&! is that? |
February 20, 2007 |
Sixty-seven per cent of Canadian cellphone users admit to talking on their mobiles while they drive. Worse, 75 per cent of these people admit this auto chat makes them drive less safely A Palm Canada/Leger Marketing study also found 91 per cent of mobile yakkers have been annoyed by other cellular users in public places, and 49 per cent have been bugged by cab drivers chatting on their mobile. Yet—and this is a fun stat—47 per cent also admit their phones have rung in inappropriate places, such as movie theatres, during meetings or at a library. More annoying still: - four per cent have broken up with someone over a cellphone - one in 10 cellphone users would rather lose their mother-in-law than their phone - five per cent of respondents would rather give up their right to vote than their cellphone - another three per cent of cellphone users would rather give up their pet than their phone, followed by two per cent who would be willing to hand over their driver’s license or lose their current job in order to keep their phone. |
