| Hiring Set to Increase: CIOs |
|
Information technology pros will be in demand in 2007, according to a survey of chief information officers that found twenty-two per cent of executives plan to add IT staff in the next three months, with only three per cent anticipating cutbacks. The Robert Half Technology IT Hiring Index and Skills Report concludes the net 19 per cent hiring increase will be the highest since the second quarter of 2001, up 10 points from the previous quarter’s forecast.
The poll gathered responses from more than 270 Canadian CIOs.
Other survey findings: - CIOs report business growth is the leading reason for increased IT hiring. - Windows administration (Server 2000/2003) skills are in greatest demand, followed by database management (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2) and network administration (Cisco, Nortel, Novell).
“Business expansion and a low unemployment rate are fuelling the demand for IT professionals at all levels,” said Sandra Lavoy, vice-president of Robert Half Technology. “Recruitment and retention continues to be a top priority for employers as they seek out talented professionals to assist with new and ongoing projects.” |
