Wide-ranging Wi-Fi for all   |  November 11, 2004

Apple AirPort Express plus ParkerVision gear: WR1500, WLAN1500 and USB1500
The AirPort Express (right) is a Wi-Fi bridge, extending the range of your Mac- or Windows-based wireless network. But it’s also a print server and music source: connect the unit through an audio cable and you’re moving tunes to the stereo in your living room, bedroom, wherever. The Express sells for $179.

Or buy from ParkerVision, which promises that an end-to-end ParkerVision network offers an openfield range of up to one mile, while standard products come in at about 1,500 feet. The 802.11b router sells for approximately $258, while the USB and PC Card adapters are $129 each.
