Notebooks: The Big And The Small November 10, 2005

By Peter Wolchak

Lenovo ThinkPad Z60m and the Toshiba Libretto
The Lenovo Group of China bought IBM’s PC division back in May, and this notebook is one of the first from the new company. (Strangely, the notebook still sports the familiar IBM logo.) This is a very capable unit, albeit at 3kg its more desktop replacement than portable travel companion. The Z60M starts at $1,049.

On the other end of the size spectrum is the tiny Libretto. Its greatest asset is its small size: it’s ideal for travelling. However, its greatest drawback can also be its size: you may find it tough to type on.

Try before you buy. It lists for $2,399 and includes a DVD Super Multi Dock.
