GlobalPetFinder
Trucking companies have been using GPS systems to track fleets for years, but the technology had not been applied to dogs. The new GlobalPetFinder is a GPS unit that attaches to a dog’s collar and sends an alert when the animal moves beyond boundaries specified by the owner. This virtual fence can be any size and alerts are sent to a cellphone, PDA or computer. Pets can also be located at any time by dialing a special code into a cellphone. The service is not yet available in Canada, but the company promises it will be soon.
