Push-to-talk all the rage July 12, 2005

Kyocera KX440, Motorola V65p, LG 4750

If you haven’t heard about push-to-talk (PTT) then you’ve just not paying attention to the cellular world. PTT phones double as walkie-talkies with other PTT phones, so construction crews, couriers companies, and parents and their kids can all communicate directly, without incurring cellular charges.

Telus is the incumbent in this space, but following its recent 10-4 launch, Bell Mobility reportedly couldn’t keep up with demand for the handsets.

From Telus comes three new PTT phones, all with a handy external talk button. Prices without a rate plan are $229.99 for the candy-bar Kyocera, $279.99 for the Motorola and $299.99 for the LG. Rate plans drop the prices.
