palmOne Treo 600
The worldwide market for smart phones — slightly bulky cellphones that also incorporate a full PDA — was up 181.6 per cent year-over-year to 9.6 million devices in 2003, according to IDC. Into this hot market steps the highly anticipated Treo 600 from palmOne. The successor to the Treo 300, the 600 was launched months ago in the U.S. but only recently in Canada. The unit is a quad-band phone and a full Palm-based PDA, and offers a QWERTY keyboard, messaging, e-mail, Web access, MP3 playback, an integrated VGA camera and picture caller ID. The Treo 600 smart phone sells for $599.99 when purchased with a two-year Rogers Wireless contract.
