Price champ May 2, 2005

IBM X40
No one will accuse the designers of the X40 with being style obsessed; this notebook is, well, less flashy than the Sony or some others here. However, IBM’s offering sells for only $1,789. Both the Dell and LGE units are in that price range but the X40 weighs only 2.7lbs. while Dell’s D410 comes in at 3.8lbs., and the LGE LU20 has only 802.11b Wi-Fi, with the X40 offering the faster 802.11b/g spec. The X40 also offers the convenient Access IBM button,
which links the user to a configuration and information utility.

If your priority is portability and performance for the right price, start your shopping with the X40.
