| EV-DO: the ascent of wireless |

NATURAL EVOLUTION MEANS SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST. DIGITAL EVOLUTION MEANS MAXIMIZING THE POTENTIAL OF DATA.
Both take a giant step forward with Evolution Data Optimized (EV-DO), a new wireless networking technology which offers wireless connections at speeds that rival broadband. With EV-DO, today’s mobile business person can stay on the cutting edge of technology while gaining a competitive advantage to survive and thrive in today’s commercial jungle.
EV-DO-enabled mobile data offers the fastest and most advanced wireless services ever commercialized.
It performs at speeds previously only possible through a hard wired, high-speed connection.
How fast? More than five times faster than current wireless networks. Transfer rates run in the 400Kbps to 2.4Mbps range, which means a one megabyte email attachment that would take more than three minutes to transfer on dial-up, will download over EV-DO wirelessly in only 20 seconds.
Performance of that magnitude is possible because the EV-DO network is a separate and dedicated data channel that runs parallel to the transmission stream on existing 1X-based network.
EV-DO is also immune to noise and interference while providing a higher level of security, features that let users benefit from both high signal quality and peace of mind.
And because EV-DO offers two transmission channels, your mobile devices will now multitask, just like you do. While handling voice services over the 1X portion of the signal, a handheld computer or notebook can simultaneously transfer data via EVDO. The system manages hand-offs between the two channels, which means users move from one network to another while maintaining their personal and permanent IP address.
Charles Darwin proved that each new generation offers great potential for evolutionary change. Breakthroughs like EV-DO third-generation wireless technology show his theory also applies in the digital world. EV-DO is redefining wireless connectivity in a way that’s triggering incredible changes in productivity, efficiency and profitability.
