Clean and green score well in Fast 50 | November 17, 2008
By Peter WolchakThe overall numbers in this year’s Deloitte Technology Fast 50 were less than ideal: average growth compared to last year is down 1,276 per cent, prompting John Ruffolo, the national leader for Deloitte’s technology, media and telecommunications industry group, to state that the solid growth of previous years “may be a thing of the past” and warning that tech executives are predicting little growth going forward.
However, there is one bright green spot in this year’s roundup: companies listed in the Technology Green 15 have attracted both venture capital and IPO attention.
The 15 winners this year are:
1) 6N Silicon
2) Alter NRG
3) Aqua-Pure Ventures
4) ARISE
5) Distech Controls
6) EnviroTower
7) GEEPa
8) Ground Effects
9) Hemisphere GPS
10) ProSep
11) Questair
12) Sempa Power Systems
13) Sustainable Energy Technologies
14) Timminco
15) Westport Innovations
Thirty-three per cent of these companies work in the energy industry, 20 per cent in remediation and 20 per cent in smart building technologies.
