Firms expanding wireless functionality: Telus, IDC

Research from Telus and IDC Canada shows Canadian businesses are expanding their use of wireless technology beyond the traditional e-mail and Internet access. More than 90 per cent of Canadian firms have reportedly rolled out these features and are now looking for new functionality, such as replacing paper forms with wireless solutions.

Telus recently launched an online assessment tool to help companies evaluate their plans for strategic wireless investments. The Online Wireless Solutions Roadmap lets “individual businesses compare the anticipated value of their wireless investment plans against the results of their peers and competitors in the marketplace,” said Jim Senko, Telus vice-president of mobility solutions.

The issue, according to IDC, is that Canadian companies see the value of wireless but most don’t have any sort of wireless business strategy in place.

The Telus Roadmap is at www.telus.com/wirelessroadmap.
