Top CEO concern? Employee retention July 1, 2007
CEOs are so concerned about retaining and attracting good employees that they are now looking for tech talent overseas, according to a Deloitte survey.

The Technology Fast 500 CEO Survey found almost two thirds of North American CEOs are concerned there is not enough talent here at home, even though 67 per cent believe their country’s education system is successful in producing people with the right skills.

“Given today’s race for top talent, it is not surprising that North American tech CEOs find it more difficult to attract, develop and retain talent than to achieve profitability,” said John Ruffolo, national leader of Deloitte’s Technology, Media, and Telecommunications Group.

Sixty-seven per cent of CEOs said high-quality employees are the greatest contributor to their companies’ growth, and 48 per cent acknowledged attracting and retaining qualified employees to be their biggest operational challenge in managing growth.

Switching to tech predictions, the group said IP is hot. asked last year to name the technology with the greatest growth potential, CEOs chose wireless communications. this year, they are pointing to internet and IP-related systems as the future drivers of productivity and profit.
