Sixty-four million smartphones shipped globally in 2006, according to research firm Canalys. In Canada, the fight for that market share comes down to two dominant players.
Research in Motion landed 65 per cent of the market in Q4 2006, down from 76 per cent a year earlier. Palm, on the other hand, climbed to 26 per cent of the market in Q4 2006, up from 13 per cent in Q4 2005. This is Palm’s best market share performance ever in Canada.
