It may not be surprising news but it’s worth keeping in mind when you want to communicate with your boss: 65 per cent of executives prefer to receive e-mail over other forms of communication. That’s up from 34 per cent a decade ago, according to a study by staffing firm OfficeTeam. The preference for face-to-face meetings, paper memos and voice mail has dropped.
OfficeTeam offers these e-mail tips: > State the purpose for the message upfront, followed by back-up details > Avoid copying everyone and only forward messages to people who are directly involved > Don’t expect others to read a long message or an e-mail chain > Only mark a message “urgent” when it is actually critical.
