Job change? Ask your spouse March 17, 2008
By Peter Wolchak

A survey from Accountemps has concluded that an executive’s most influential career advisor is his or her spouse, with 46 per cent of execs saying they turn first to their significant others when considering a career change. Mentors are consulted by 41 per cent. When faced with a job offer, Accountemps recommends asking yourself the following questions:

> Is the grass really greener? There is a good chance the new job will not actually be more fulfilling
> Will you have room to grow? Consider advancement potential
> Have you done your homework? Evaluate the financial position of the new firm
> Have you researched the industry and the company’s mission statement and values?
