Guide for Small Business

Is your company eligible to be featured in an Intel Small Business Case Study?

Calgary is the most secure city March 17, 2008
by Peter Wolchak

A Symantec study of Canadian home PC users has named Calgary Canada’s safest city in terms of Internet security. Vancouver ranked last. To be fair, though, it was a close race.

The study ranked the state of home PC security in seven cities: Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Halifax. Symantec asked residents if they had up-to-date security software installed on their PCs. All cities scored at least 80 per cent, with Calgary at 90 per cent and Vancouver last at 85 per cent.

Symantec plans to present the Mayor of Calgary with an award acknowledging his city as “Canada’s Safest Cyber City.” The company also plans to launch an awareness campaign for Vancouverites.
