Vancouver Enterprise Forum: Extreme CEO – Extreme CCTV’s Jack Gin
On Buying Companies, Being Bought and Building A Successful Technology Business
April 22, 2008

Fraser Liptrot of Deloitte & Touche LLP will act as moderator for the event and he will conduct a question and answer session “fireside chat” session with Jack as Jack discusses his numerous entrepreneurial efforts and impart some of his key learnings from the past three or four companies he has been involved with. This month’s event will cover a broad range of topics, including Gin’s experiences with the acquisition of businesses, outsourcing to China, the sale or exit from businesses, managing high growth and the IPO process. It should be a VEF event that anyone interested in technology entrepreneurship will not want to miss.

Important Notice to all VEF Attendees:

VEF Presentations Now Starting at 6:00 p.m. Precisely

Please note: For April, the VEF is trialing a new event format. Most importantly, this involves kicking off the event with the presentations now going first at 6:00 pm, followed by our networking session beginning afterwards at around 7:00 pm. The presentations will of course include our usual entrepreneurial guest speakers, who will follow our new 100-second lightning talks that will kick off each month’s event. This format change has been designed to provide attendees with time after the presentations to chat in an unhurried fashion with their colleagues and the presenters about the ideas raised in the talks. The VEF will be seeking input on this new format as it has been proposed to be the new event format going forward.

This light dinner/networking event should be of interest to business entrepreneurs in every industry, and will provide a unique forum for networking with members of the technology community, including some of our top local VCs and entrepreneurs.

The event will be held on Tuesday, April 22 at the VEF’s new location at the Vancity Theatre at 1181 Seymour Street (at Davie). Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with presentations beginning precisely at 6:00 p.m, followed by networking at 7:00 p.m. Note that presentations will go first at 6 pm followed by networking. Pre-registration is highly recommended at www.vef.org. Admission is free for members, $35 for non-members.
