Social Media Showdown | March 18, 2009
Social Media Showdown was conceptualized as an education program with the mandate of creating a bridge between industry agencies offering social media services and clients trying to better understand how to take advantage of the tools and subsequent campaigns being created.
Gone are the days when Social Media is a new thing. It is now being used and embraced by companies of all sizes, ROM, Ford Canada, TD Bank and startups such as Freshbooks.com.
Many companies have gotten it right and some have simply made us wonder what they were thinking. One constant still remains, there needs to be more education and profile of success across Canada for us all to learn from.
Enter the Social Media Showdown, a full day event that combines great case studies and break out sessions and wraps up with a celebration of some of the best examples of social media across Canada.
While not the first amongst competitions for business professionals, the Social Media Showdown is unique in that it has a special focus on social media, offering the participants great incentive such as winning the first place prize, not to mention international exposure.
The competition gives companies the opportunity to display their marketing savvy and creativity in an environment outside of the norm The judging will include a combination of industry experts, plus opening to industry participation.
